Define the need first
Analyse the squad before opening the market. Find the positions that lack quality, cover or a profile required by your preferred tactic.
An unplanned purchase can delay progress elsewhere. Set a maximum cost and do not break it only because an auction is about to close.
- position and tactical role
- age and development potential
- current attributes
- fee, wage and contract length
Auctions, direct deals and loans
The market offers several ways to recruit. An auction can deliver value but demands discipline. A direct purchase is faster, while a loan can cover a temporary gap without the full investment.
Compare several candidates. A small advantage in one attribute may be less useful than a better fit for the position and the rest of the team.
Selling is part of the strategy
A player who rarely appears still uses budget and can block a younger prospect. Review squad usage and contract expiry dates regularly.
The healthiest squad is not necessarily the largest. It should offer competition, cover in important positions and room for talent to develop.
